⚡️ How to use a VPN when mining with an ASIC

What is a VPN and why do you need one?

A VPN is a special program that hides your internet traffic.

With a VPN

– your provider or third parties cannot see where you are connecting to
– you can bypass pool block

What you need

– Your ASIC miner.
– Router.
– A VPN service subscription.

Connection options

– VPN on a router (the most convenient method)
All devices in your home, including miners, will automatically work through the VPN.

– VPN on a computer
Connect your computer to the VPN and distribute the internet from it to the miner. But then the computer must always be turned on.

The miner itself cannot connect to a VPN, so you need a router or a computer as an intermediary.

Step-by-step setup (the easiest option via a router)

1. Register with a VPN service and pay for a subscription.
2. Download the ready-made “configuration file” or application for the router (usually there are instructions directly in your VPN service account).
3. Go to your router settings via a browser (usually the address is http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1) .
4. Find the VPN or Internet settings section.
5. Upload the file from step 2 there or enter the VPN login/password.
6. Enable VPN on the router.
7. Check that the VPN is working:
– open a website such as whatismyip.com from a computer connected to this router;
– it should show a new IP address (the country where the VPN server is located).

Connecting the miner
– No additional changes are required in the miner.
– Just connect it to the router where the VPN is already configured.
– All connections between the miner and the pool will go through a secure VPN channel.

Conclusion
– Purchase a VPN subscription.
– Configure the VPN on the router.
– Connect the miner to the router.
– The miner operates as usual, but through a secure VPN channel.
